Written and Directed by Johnny McKnight. Macrobert Arts Centre. WORLD PREMIERE. 23 November – 31 December 2017
“All cylinders are firing as Johnny McKnight confirms his latter-day position of King of Panto…. it requires no TV endorsement to make this the best panto in Scotland.” THE GUARDIAN
**** Welcome, folks, to the extravagant punning – the sassy gags, the stonking song’n’dance numbers, the sheer daft energy – that is a Johnny McKnight pantomime….Go – you’ll have the time of your lives. THE HERALD
**** Its a slick and gallus joy. A winter warmer that slips down like a hot toddy (whoever he is!). THE LIST
**** “A huge amount of fun is had by everyone” THE SCOTSMAN
“another resounding success for Johnny McKnight. Balancing the outright ludicrous with some genuinely touching moments, Chick is sure to inject its audience with the annual booster of festive cheer. For those seeking a twist on the traditional pantomime, it is not to be missed. THE REVIEWS HUB
Stirling Stella is under attack. It’s been fifty years since The Great Christmas Rat Race of 1967 almost destroyed the pantosphere – and now – Queen Rat is back, with sharper teeth and a longer, swishier tale than before. Step forward, or rather push forward, one Chick Whittington – daughter of the legendary Dick. Surely removing the streets of vermin will be as easy to her as it was her dad? Surely Alice Fitzwarren and her Time Machine can help save the day and nothing – repeat NOTHING – could possibly go wrong?
Will Stirling Stella ever be free of the flea-bitten Queen Rat and her minions? Will Chick ever step out of her grandpa’s murderous shadow? Will anyone notice that the plot bears a very strong resemblance to Back To The Future?
Just a quick note to say a massive thank you. We attended your Chick Wittington panto with our granddaughter Ava on Sunday 17th Dec at 1.30 performance.
I was the fella in the green Christmas tree suit!! This was our third year running we have been to your panto in Stirling and you have picked out Ava in both the panto’s you have performed in. She is absolutely enthralled by the whole panto and theatre experience. We can not wait to experience Sleeping Beauty in 2018.
Once again a massive thank you to you and your fabulous team.
